5th Day – Remain on the Trace of Love

Lk 11:1-4

He was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples’.
He said to them, ‘when you pray, say:

Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us,
and do not subject us to the final test’.

Words of the Foundress

“The more we speak to God in a childlike and simple manner, the more he likes to unite himself with us” (MAM. RL 24).

“There are perhaps some among you who believe that prayer consists in the recitation of formulas.
That is not the case; genuine prayer comes from the heart.
All your occupations should be a constant prayer”
(MAM RL 22).

Prayer

God, our Father, the life of Christ had been a continuous dialogue of love with you in the Holy Spirit. In him you have chosen us to be children of God.
Fill us, like Mother Alphonse Marie, with the spirit of prayer; give us the grace to live as children of God and to open our hearts to your action.
Make us ready to follow your will and to recognize your presence in every event, situation of life and encounters.

Mother Alphonse Marie

“If we aren’t heard immediately we should go on asking until we receive what we are asking for.

Prayer is never lost, and if we don’t receive exactly what we are praying for, we will certainly get something which is much more beneficial to our salvation”
(Rekindle the gift of God that is within you, Issue I, Page 3).

Daily prayer

Heavenly Father,
You gifted Mother Alphonse Marie
with the grace of being powerfully attracted
to the mystery of the Cross,
even in her most tender years.

In this mystery she perceived your merciful love
for all your children.

You inspired her to found a Congregation to manifest
that love through serving those
who suffer in body or in spirit.

Through the Eucharist you gave her the strength
to participate in the work of the Redemption.

May we be transformed by the love of Christ the Redeemer,
even as she was;
and may our lives be a witness
of your great love to all those we encounter.

Hear the prayers that we present through her intercession...
and if it be your will, grant that we may soon venerate
Blessed Alphonse Marie as a Saint throughout the Church.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
We Remember
December
Merciful Jesus, grant them eternal rest.
