7th Day – Draw Joyfully From the Sources of Salvation

Jn 7, 37-38

On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and exclaimed, ‘Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink!
Whoever believes in me as scripture says, “Rivers of living water will flow from within him.”

Words of the Foundress:

The spirit of the Daughters of the Divine Savior has to be the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

Just as Jesus was to be recognized as the promised Savior by his marvelous and active love of neighbor (compassion), so he wants also that active love of neighbor will be one of the signs by which his disciples are recognized.
“It is by your love for one another, that everyone will recognize you as my disciples” (Jn 13:35).
The Sacred Heart of Jesus should be the model according to which the hearts of his own are to be formed.

He is the good Samaritan whose example he points out and says: ”Go and do likewise!”(Rekindle the gift of God that is within you, Issue IV, Pages 35, 38).

Prayer

God, our Father, your servant, Mother Alphonse Marie, lived on the bubbling source of salvation. Teach us, like her, to contemplate the Heart of the Savior in his constant love for the eternal Father and for humanity.
“His words, actions, commands, miracles, and especially those works which manifest more clearly His love for us- such as the divine institution of the Eucharist, His most bitter sufferings and death, the loving gift of His holy Mother to us, the founding of the Church for us, and finally, the sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and upon us. All these ought to be looked upon as proofs of His love during his earthly life until the last moment in which ‘he said: It is fulfilled; and bowing his head he gave up his spirit’” (Encyclical Haurietis aquas No. 59 - on the Veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by Pope Pius XII, 15 May 1956).

Daily prayer

Heavenly Father,
You gifted Mother Alphonse Marie
with the grace of being powerfully attracted
to the mystery of the Cross,
even in her most tender years.

In this mystery she perceived your merciful love
for all your children.

You inspired her to found a Congregation to manifest
that love through serving those
who suffer in body or in spirit.

Through the Eucharist you gave her the strength
to participate in the work of the Redemption.
May we be transformed by the love of Christ the Redeemer,
even as she was;
and may our lives be a witness
of your great love to all those we encounter.

Hear the prayers that we present through her intercession...
and if it be your will, grant that we may soon venerate
Blessed Alphonse Marie as a Saint throughout the Church.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
We Remember
December
Merciful Jesus, grant them eternal rest.
