9th Day – Celebrate the Memory of the Lord

Lk 22:19-20

Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body which will be given for you. Do this in memory of me’.
And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood which will be shed for you’.

Words of the Foundress

One of the greatest blessings God has given us in his Passion is the institution of the Eucharist and the ordination to the priesthood through which the holy sacraments are administered.

However, one does not think enough about it. One has so little respect for priests and prays for them so little, far from being grateful to God for such a great blessing!

In spite of this, one has to admire the great mercy of God. Even if one is ungrateful towards him, he continues to give us grace, in order to show us more and more his mercy (Rekindle the gift of God that is within you, Issue II, Page 25).

Especially before (receiving) the Holy Communion you shall meditate the greatest kindness and mercy of God who has left himself (as legacy) in the most Holy Sacrament, in order to imprint his love in our hearts we want to live, yet nor more we, but Jesus should live in us.
All our respiration and heartbeats, all our sighs and fervent prayers should be directed toward Jesus, and thus we shall obtain his love (Rekindle the gift of God that is within you, Issue I, Page 23).

Prayer

God, our Father, in the celebration of the Eucharist, we participate in the Paschal Mystery of your Son, Jesus Christ.
In an especial way you have taken Mother Alphonse Marie into this mystery of salvation and granted her charism looking to the one “whom they have pierced” (Jn 19:37).
Her life teaches us, always to look at him, the Savior of the world, who in the holy sacrament lives among us and is at work. Through him and with him we honour the Father, when we offer our lives, our work and the entire creation to his praise.
Give us a deep gratitude for the institution and participation in the sacraments of our salvation and for the joyful confidence that you are with us always, to the end of time (Mt 28:20).

Daily prayer

Heavenly Father,
You gifted Mother Alphonse Marie
with the grace of being powerfully attracted
to the mystery of the Cross,
even in her most tender years.
In this mystery she perceived your merciful love
for all your children.
You inspired her to found a Congregation to manifest
that love through serving those
who suffer in body or in spirit.
Through the Eucharist you gave her the strength
to participate in the work of the Redemption.
May we be transformed by the love of Christ the Redeemer,
even as she was; and may our lives be a witness
of your great love to all those we encounter.
Hear the prayers that we present through her intercession...
and if it be your will, grant that we may soon venerate
Blessed Alphonse Marie as a Saint throughout the Church.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
We Remember
December
Merciful Jesus, grant them eternal rest.
