While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” Lk 11:27-28
A book “The Journey of the Sun” is an autobiographical narrative of the leader of the group The Sun. Francesco Lorenzi talks about a journey that led them to World Youth Day 2016. Francesco's life journey was full of twists. In 2007, after a successful tour, he lost the meaning of life. Although he had accomplished everything he dreamed of, he felt a great emptiness. Drugs, alcohol and uncontrolled life dragged the band down. He was in a total crisis. One day his mother told him about a gospel concert, where he finally decided to go and he met people who accepted him and shared their lives. He met people dedicated to life and love for their neighbor. This experience has raised in him many questions. When he returned home at night he took the Bible and begged God to get him out of the darkness. He spent the whole night in intense prayer and scripture reading. He began to perceive God as a person interested in him. He said, "The word of God struck me like a bolt of lightening that lit me but didn't burn." A great conversion occurred not only in him, but also in his music and in his relationships with friends and relatives.
How does the Word of God help me in my journey? What do I need to burn inside to hear better?“Always hear God's Word piously and respectfully. Listen to him in the spirit of faith, as if coming out of God's mouth. Let words and thoughts fall on your soul and enter into it. Do your earnest thoughts to hear the seed of God's Word bring multiple crops in your heart. ” Francis de Sales
