One of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Lk 17:15-16
One day Charles H. Spurgeon was robbed on a busy London street. When he returned home and told his wife what had happened to him, he added, "I still have to thank the Lord." His wife objected, "Do you want to thank God for you being robbed of the money?" "No, my dear," Charles replied, starting to recount the reasons he has to be grateful. "First, I am grateful that the thief only took my money, not my life. Secondly, I am grateful that I left most of my money at home, so he did not steal much. Third, I am grateful to God for not being the thief!”
Do you pray at least in the morning and evening? Do you remember, besides the petitions, to also thank? Do you believe that God listens to your prayer and that through it you can grow in faith and love?
Gratitude most attracts God's gifts of grace. For when we thank God for his goodness, He will impress and hurry to send us ten times more goodnesses. What an incalculable multiplication of graces! St. Therese of Lisieux
