Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you, everyone who acknowledge me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God.” Lk 12:8-9
During World War II Buckner Fanning was a member of the American infantry. Three weeks after dropping the atomic bomb, he was transferred to a military base in Nagasaki. He did not feel like a soldier of the victorious army, but was deeply affected by the war that brings suffering. He found a church while patrolling the city streets. Full of uncertainty, the young soldier stepped in between the wreckage. He didn't know if he would be welcomed. About fifteen Japanese were repairing benches and removing debris. When he entered the church, everyone stopped working. Then he heard the only Japanese word he knew - brother. "They welcomed me like a brother," Buckner recalls. They offered him a seat. It was the moment when the hostility of the war had given way to common faith. Brother welcomed his brother.
Do you realize that other believers in Christ are your brothers and sisters? Is there anything you can do for one of them today?
“If you don't see God, love for others will make you see Him. Unless you love the brother whom you see, you cannot love the God whom you don't see.” St. Augustine
