Jesus said to the crowds, “You hypocrites! You know to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time? Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?” Lk 12:56-57
While studying, writer Lloyd Douglas lived in a private home of a retired music teacher in a wheelchair. The lodger walked through the hall each morning and asked his landlord who read the newspaper, "What is the news, today?" One day, the teacher grabbed the tuner, tapped the side of the wheelchair and said, "This is chamber A. It was A yesterday, and it will be chamber A tomorrow. And it will be chamber A even in 1000 years. The tenor can sound falsely and the piano can be out of tune, but this, my friend, this will be chamber A forever."
Is Jesus Christ your constant center of life? Is He the point of reference for all your decisions?
“Man is created to praise, reverence, and serve God our Lord, and by this means to save his soul. And the other things on the face of the earth are created for man and that they may help him in prosecuting the end for which he is created. From this it follows that man is to use them as much as they help him on to his end, and ought to rid himself of them so far as they hinder him as to it.” St. Ignatius of Loyola
