Monday, October 7, 2019 – Our Lady of the Rosary Acts 1:12-14; Lk 1:26-38 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The angel said to Mary in reply, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her.” Lk 1:35-36
Mother Teresa of Calcutta writes in her memoirs how she went with several sisters in India to the Eucharistic Congress. She saw two dying people on the street, one woman and one man. She stopped by and told her fellow sisters, “Go to Congress, I'll stay with them.” Many were angry with her for missing the congress. Mother Teresa explained her absence in the following words, “I went to worship Christ in the form of bread, but I found Him in the street in two dying people. I stopped by them to worship Him.”
In God’s message, Mary noticed Elizabeth’s needs. Mother Teresa saw the needy on the way to Jesus. Are you able to open your heart to the needs of others in your spiritual life and in seeking God's will?
