During this Year of Mercy, as in past years, I am helping by sending some of my money to prisoners to purchase Bibles for them, to have Bible studies and learn about our Lord through the Scriptures. I have also sent them rosaries and they are very grateful for all I do for them. I have done this because Scripture says: "Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body." Hebrews 13:3
I also have been sending the articles from the “World Among Us” (includes meditations on the Readings for daily Mass) to 14 shut-in ladies and gentlemen who do not have access to religious reading and they are very happy for them. I have done this for over two years. It is a form of evangelization that I can carry on through the mail. "For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise His own people who are prisoners." Psalm 69:33
My bracelet reminds me always to remember to pray for Vocations to the Priesthood and to our own Community. Jesus said “The harvest is great but the laborers are few”. I always remind Him to do something about it because He can.
I keep in touch with our parish people from St. Ladislaus, in Lorain, Ohio, because they love the Sisters and are happy to see them. I see them once a year for a few hours and that makes them happy. They are always in my prayers.
I make angels and try to sell them before Christmas for the missions. I sell them in the front lobby of our Motherhouse. This year the money will go to the Capuchins. They need it to build a school in Papua New Guinea.
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has sent me to bring good news to the poor, … to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound." Isaiah 61:1
