On Sunday, March 23, 2025, the Rock of the Redeemer and the Sisters held the Lent-Easter event for children as well as for adults.

Here are some reflections on the event:

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Leap into Lent Event and First Annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 23rd. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces—over 200 people came together to celebrate with us! We are especially grateful for our Rock Ambassadors, volunteers, and musicians from various churches who gave their time and talents to serve and uplift our community. Your dedication and support beautifully reflect the heart of our mission.

Events like this help us continue the legacy of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer by creating joyful moments for families, offering support to those in need, and sharing God’s love through simple acts of kindness.

We can’t wait to welcome you at our next event!
Daniel McLaughlin, President of The Rock of the Redeemer
"Leap Into Lent" a Rock of the Redeemer event, was a creative way enter and keep focused during this holy season. The elderly, the middle aged, the young of heart were welcomed to spend some time in Divine Redeemer Chapel where scriptural reflections, highlighted with the gentle music, the lovely harmonized hymns, the inviting songs of the Meek family quieted hearts remininding all who were present about the purpose and graces of this holy season.

The exuberant joy of many children found expression in coloring Easter eggs, ceating mosaic crosses, tossing balls into basketball hoops, getting spring tattoos and having faces painted with rainbows, flowers, bunny nose and whiskers. Cards were collored and small baskets were filled for less fortunate children.
A very large white Easter bunny paid a visit to this gathering. He was so happy to be here that he wanted to sit and pose for photographs with excited children. Of course, the communication was in 'bunny talk'but each child understood and eagerly waited to have their picture taken. Most people went outside at 3 p.m. where they gathered around the Divine Redeemer Statue for the Easter Egg Hunt. When the children were ready with their empty baskets, an ambassador called out, "Come find yellow eggs!" There was a great rush and shouts of joy, jumps up and down as broad smiles indicated eggs that were found. Then came the next call, "Come find red eggs!" etc. These eggs were special as the ambassadors had filled 1,000 of them with small gifts during the previous week.

The cookies and pink lemonade were greatly enjoyed after the challenging games. Some lucky winners won the raffle of wonderfully filled Easter baskets. Ambassadors were also ready to help any girl or boy needing a prom gown or jacket which had been donated by the ambassadors as one of their hands- on projects.
This day of reflection and great joy closed with a blessing by Bishop Bradley.
We want to thank everyone who helped to make this "Leap Into Lent" such a great event.
                                                                                                                         Sister Monica

From what I experienced - the children came from Loved and Disciplined homes:
I saw and heard lively, smiling, happy children - no crying.
I noticed the kind action of two little boys, 5-6 in age:
  1. One gave me a drink of lemonade; by himself, he was not told.
  2. The other - came over to a baby in a carrying basket and just looked at her - no words - just checking if she was O.K. and he smiled, then went away.
                                                                                                     Sister Bernard

After the first, and wonderful, event at The Rock of the Redeemer, all were anticipating the next event-- "Leap Into Lent"--and I am sure no one was disappointed. It was so good to hear the sound of children'shappy voices and to feel the excitement in the air on March 23rd. Here are just a few of the unforgettable memories:

There were children's games and Easter crafts in the Community Room. Egg coloring has come a long way! We used to dunk each egg into a cup of colored water, with different colors to choose from. Now a little machine spun the egg around while the child touched the egg with colored markers, producing colored ring around each egg. Voila...stripped eggs! For those of us who had never seen this method, it was amazing. All games/prizes and crafts were free.

In the back of the Community Room, and adorable--really adorable--Easter Bunny sat on a fabric, high-back chair waiting to pose with each child as the proud parent/grandparent/friend/etc. took the photo.

In the Lobby and Community Room, there were refreshment station with an awsome variety of cookies and Springtime-pink lemonade. Sister Bernard and I were serve by the young grandsons of Bob and Marcia, our weekly volunteers.

During the course of the aftrenoon, the Meek family provided instrumental music, religious hymns, and reflections in the Motherhouse Chapel. They offered this "gift" in memory of their beloved father, Reverend Meek, who passed away recently.

Before leaving, people were invited to take a tiny 1and 1/4 inch statue of Jesus, (with brown hair, white robe, and purple sash) as one of the Ambassadors said, "Everyone needs Jesus. Put Him on your desk, in the kitchen, anywhere..."

In closing, I'd like to thank: Dan and Amy McLauglin...the Rock Team...Ambassadors...the Volunteers...Sister Alojziana and Sister Viannea.
A Thank You to God, too! While we had heard the gloomy (probable rain) forecast, we continued to pray and hope. "Thank You, God, for the sunshine!"
                                                                            Sister Joanne
