Blessed Alphonse Marie

On September 9, 2018 his Eminence Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, presided the Eucharistic celebration and the ceremony of the Beatification of Mother Alphonse Marie.

The Rite of Beatification followed by Introductory rites. Archbishop of Strasbourg, Msgr. Luc Ravel and Postulator Sister Katarína Krištofová, SDR appeared before His Eminence, Cardinal Angelo Becciu, the representative of Holy Father Francis and submited the request to approach to the act of beatification of Venerable Servant of God, Alphonse Marie Eppinger. Archbishop Luc Ravel requested for beatification:
"Your Eminence, the Diocese of Strasbourg and three Congregations originated from the foundation of Mother Alphonse Marie humbly ask Holy Father Francis to write on the List of Blessed, Venerable Servant of God, Alphonse Marie Eppinger, Foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Savior."

Postulator of the case, Sister Katarína Krištofová, SDR read a short biography of Alphonse Marie Eppinger.

Cardinal Angelo Becciu said:
Through the authority given me by His Holiness, Pope Francis, I will read the Apostolic letter by which the Holy Father wrote on the List of Blessed, Venerable Servant of God, Alphonse Marie Eppinger.
Then, he read the Apostolic letter in Latin.
 

                                            APOSTOLIC LETTER
                                Based on my Apostolic authority and
              after consultation with the Congregation for the Causes of Saints,
                               we decided to fulfill a wish of our brother
                         Luc Ravel, C.R.S.V., Archbishop of Strasbourg,
                     as well as other brother Bishops and many believers.
                                                          So, let
                               Venerable Servant of God, Alphonse Marie,
                       Foundress of the Congregation of the Divine Savior,
                  who by suffering, silence, and prayer, showed God’s love,
                          especially those who suffered in body or in spirit,
                                          herein be called Blessed.
                         The day of her memorial will be celebrated every year
                                                   on September 9th
                                at the places and the ways established by law.

After the reading of the Apostolic letter, while fanfare was sounding, the portrait of the new Blessed was uncovered.
Choir chanted the HYMN OF PRAISE for veneration of Blessed Alphonse Marie.
In solemn procession, the relics of the new Blessed were brought and placed on the prepared area, as well as flowers and lamps.
After Holy Mass the relics was exposed in the Chapel of St. Catherine for veneration to the believers.
